CERTH



CERTH (http://www.certh.gr), is a legal non-profit Government entity organized under private law, under the auspices of the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT) of the Greek Ministry of Development.

CERTH’s installations are located in the area of the Technological Park of Thessaloniki. CERTH’s mission is to carry out basic and applied research with special emphasis in developing new products and services with industrial, economic and social impact. The structure of CERTH includes the Central Directorate and the following five research institutes: Chemical Process Research Institute (CPERI), Informatics and Telematics Institute (ITI), Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT), Institute of Agrobiotechnology (INA) and Institute for Solid Fuels Technology and Applications (ISFTA). In the last three years CERTH participates or coordinates 244 active research projects. It should be emphasized that CERTH is the National Coordinator of the Greek Mobility Centres Network (Bridgehead organization), that is part of the ERAMORE Network, participates in the Mobility Steering Group of the EC and is the Coordinator of PYTHEAS project, a project of FP-6 for the support of the Greek Mobility Centres Network (http://www.eracareers.gr).

CERTH will be the coordinator of the project. Three members from the staff of the Liaison Office, a department of the Central Directorate, will carry out the coordination activities and the project results dissemination (awareness campaign). For this purpose CERTH will produce all the necessary printed and electronic informative material (booklets, leaflets, CDs).

One employee from the accounting department and one from the projects department will have the responsibility for the financial management and project monitoring respectively.

CERTH will contribute to the project providing experience and information gained by the mapping exercise for the identification of research organizations and universities in the Balkan Countries. The result of this mapping exercise is a database containing information for more than 1.500 organizations (http://www.certh.gr/library/gr/brcd/index.html).
